Oscar Travesties

In preparation for the impending awards ceremony on Sunday, I asked the other A Mrk about what he thought the WORST acting award ever given out at the Oscars were.

Al texted me back immediately with the following:
"Cuba Gooding Jr."

I was SO ashamed that I hadn't come up with this myself (my excuse is that I've blocked him and anything to do with Jerry Macguire out of my memory).

This prompted us to list what all the worst Oscar travesties were/are. And we are not alone in doing this activity.

A website called Grantland is currently hosting a battle for the most egregious Oscar Moment Ever. The round of 32 is already finished, but you can still vote on the remaining battles on their facebook page. They came up with some good ones, some of which we A Mrk's agree with (and others we do not--I LOVE Shakespeare in Love!)

Here is my list of the 21 Top Oscar Travesties

1.   Kevin Costner winning best director and Dances With Wolves period (over Goodfellas?)
2.   Cuba Gooding Jr.
3.   The Hurt Locker. Period.
4.   Al Pacino never winning for The Godfather
5.   Nicholas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas over Sean Penn in Dead man walking
